Q1: Can the printer print multiple colors?

No. BENTSAI B1, B2, and B3 handheld printers only contain one cartridge slot and support monochrome color printing only.

Ink color options for aqueous ink cartridge (work with B1, B2, B3, B10) : black, cyan, magenta, yellow, green.

Ink color options for solvent ink cartridge (work with B2, B3, B10) : black, cyan, magenta, yellow, green, white, invisible.


Q2: Can you use the printer while charging?

Yes. The printer is powered by a battery and will continue to print under charging and unplugged.


Q3: Can the ink cartridges be inserted or removed when the printer is turned on?

Yes. You can remove or insert the ink cartridge when the printer is on, the machine will detect the ink cartridge status.


Q4: How to upgrade the printer firmware? Do you need to send it back to the manufacturer for upgrade?

No, you don't need to send us the printer. You can contact us at support@bentsaishop.com for the newest firmware version and then follow the steps below. 

1. Download the latest firmware and copy it to a USB flash drive
2. Insert the USB drive into your printer
3. Click "Maintenance" on the dashboard
4. Click "FW upgrade" → Click "Confirm"
5. Wait for the printer to shut down and reboot, this will take around 2-5 minutes

Note: If the power of the machine is less than 35%, be sure to connect your printer to an external power adapter before upgrading.


Q5: Long-term placement results in less ink output or no ink output from the print-head. What should we do?

You can try the following methods to solve this problem:

1. Take out the ink cartridge and shake it vigorously to confirm whether there is still ink. If there is no ink, please replace the ink cartridge.

2. Enter the UI device maintenance interface and click "nozzle cleaning" to clean the nozzle for multiple times;

3. Wipe the nozzle with a soft paper towel and alcohol.

If the above actions cannot improve the situation, please replace the cartridge before use!


Warm Tips for Maintaining Ink Cartridges:

To prevent the ink from drying out and blocking the nozzle, when not in use, please cover the protective cap of cartridge back in time. Also, the ink cartridges should be stored in a well-ventilated area, keep them away from the source of the heat or extreme cold or hot temperature.


Q6: My printer states “ink box not installed” when the ink cartridge is inside, what to do?

Please run a quick troubleshooting by following these steps.

1. Press the pins on the cartridge container to check whether they can bounce back normally.

2. Check whether there is any dirt on the ink cartridge's chip before installing; if yes, please gently clean it with an eraser or lint-free cloth.

3. Check whether any parts of the electrical connections on the ink cartridge are missing before installing.

Q7: Can I use cartridges with chips from other brands on these machines?

Printers from BENTSAI can only work with original cartridges from our company, any force to use a third party made cartridge could burn the machine or the encryption chip, and will void your warranty.
